If someone sent you a GingerDocs document, you do not need an account, a subscription, or any software. This guide explains what happens from the moment the email arrives.
Open your signing link
The email contains a secure link that is unique to you. It opens the document in your browser on any device — desktop, tablet, or phone. If you are on a new device, GingerDocs first emails you a 6-digit verification code to confirm you own the mailbox before showing the document. The moment you open it, the sender sees the document move to Viewed status.
Fill your fields
The document highlights the fields assigned to you — text to fill in, dates, dropdowns to choose from, or files to attach. You only see what you are responsible for completing.
Three ways to sign
Whichever you choose, the signature is recorded with a timestamp and IP address in the document’s audit log.
- Draw — sign by hand with a finger, stylus, or mouse; the stroke is captured as a crisp vector path.
- Type — type your name and choose from four handwriting-style script fonts.
- Upload — provide a PNG or JPG of your scanned ink signature or company seal.
If something is wrong with the document
You are not forced to sign as-is. You can reject the document instead of signing — you will be asked for a reason, the sender is notified immediately, and they can make changes and resend. The rejection is recorded immutably in the document history.
After everyone signs
When the final signature is in, the document is completed and a flattened PDF is generated. The complete signing history — every view, signature, and decline — lives in a hash-chained audit log that anyone can check via the document verification page.
